ASHLEIGH NEESAM-ABUSHHIWA, LPCC, LPC
She/Her/Hers
Ashleigh believes that the premise of therapy is based around decreasing suffering and improving quality of life; what else could be more rewarding than helping someone to achieve this in their lives? It is an honor to be granted the opportunity to be a part of each and every one of my client’s journeys. Providing a safe, nonjudgemental place for my clients to be open and vulnerable is one of my missions as a therapist. Each client is treated with acceptance, empathy, and unconditional positive regard, while also being challenged in various emotional ways--for that is where the change is.
Specialties include: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing (certified through EMDRIA), Exposure and Response Prevention, Internal Family Systems, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Areas of focus include working with individuals who struggle with trauma/PTSD, eating disorders/body image issues, co-occurring disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, adjustment disorders, depressive and anxiety disorders. Ashleigh prioritizes meeting each and every client where they are and treating them as an individual rather than as if they were a textbook case.
Ashleigh has an extensive skill set and education, and has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including inpatient hospitalization, residential treatment, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and outpatient private practice. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.A. in Psychology with an emphasis in nutritional science) and a master’s degree from Cardinal Stritch (M.A. in Clinical Psychology).
She is licensed as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (#3944) through the State of California, Licensed Professional Counselor (#6617-125) and licensed telehealth therapy through the state of Florida and South Carolina.
